I'm Dawn

Hi, I’m Dawn, a certified Reading Interventionist, Orton-Gillingham trained tutor, and former elementary teacher with 17 years of classroom experience. A Florida native, I hold a Bachelor’s from UNF, a Master’s in Education from USF, and certifications in K-6 education, Reading, Gifted, and ESOL.

As a former struggling reader with hearing and speech difficulties, I’m passionate about helping students succeed in reading and math. My experience led me to earn National Board Certification in Early Elementary and specialize in supporting neurodivergent learners, including those with ADHD, Dyslexia, and executive functioning challenges.

Now, through Think Outside, LLC, I provide personalized online instruction that nurtures the “whole learner” using research-based strategies tailored to diverse learning styles.

During my free time, I combine my love for education and conservation by volunteering overseas to teach English in Indonesia and collaborating with the Morpho Institute in the Peruvian Amazon. Through my work with the Morpho Institute, I help empower educators and communities to advance Amazon conservation and sustainability while raising awareness about its global importance.

When I’m not teaching or volunteering, you’ll find me exploring the outdoors, traveling, or unwinding in a hammock with my cat, Robère.
